Turning the Tide

We Have Perfect Faces for Radio!
Written by DC Tedrow
Saturday, 15 July 2006

It's been a long while, but Sandra and I finally have some CHR-specific announcements to make:

First, and this is extremely late notice, Sandra and I will appear on AM radio this morning between 10:30 and 12:00 (noon). The station is 1440, and I'm sorry to say that I don't know the name of the show or its host. Props to Irene from Tango Tea Room for getting us on.

Second, and this shouldn't be news to anyone reading this, the CHR started a new project in February called Turning the Tide . This is our first foray into a serious publishing effort, as well as our first foray into using newsprint. Since publication of our first issue (we're on our fourth now) it has rapidly evolved into a news magazine, and is picking up steam in Texas cities other than Corpus Christi. If you've been yearning for updates and CHR-related news, you should definitely keep your eye on this project, since it's provided an engine for a CHR revival, and is basically where Sandra and I have been most active within the Church.

Third, you should expect us to retool this website. And since since Turning the Tide threw a serious monkeywrench into our "officially" stated organizational model, we will also discuss and try to hammer out the details for our enw organizational model at Turning the Tide's next meeting. Oh, that's another thing: we hold meetings now.

Fourth, we have been invited by Irene at Tango Tea Room to show documentaries on a regular schedule. We'll post more information about this later, but we are willing to confirm that our first documentary will be Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, and that we will do a screening of it, followed by a discussion of some sort, at Tango Tea Room on August 5, 2006 (three weeks from now). We'll send out some sort of announcement before then.

Fifth, due to a complete lack of submissions for it, Sandra and I have decided to cancel our plans for producing the First Amalgamation.

And finally, Luis, Chris Lockamy, and myself have been in discussions to produce a comic book. I won't say what the content of it will be, since this is still very tentative and I'd like to keep it pretty secret. This is the first time I've publicly mentioned this, even though I've mulled over its plot and many of its characters for nearly two years already.
